According to AP News, 31 people killed in the Capital of Iraq and 6 killed in Baghlan Province of Afghanistan on Friday.

A series of vehicle bombings in Iraq killed at least 31 people Friday, officials said, in the second straight day of attacks in Baghdad blamed on Islamic militants who have seized large parts of the country.

A parked explosives-packed car detonated shortly before midday prayers near the al-Mubarak mosque in the Iraqi capital's mostly Shiite central district of Karradah, killing nine people and wounding 18 others, police said.

Also according to the police of Afghanistan, six people killed because of bomb explosion in Baghlan Province of this country.   A police spokesman in Afghanistan says a bomb blast killed six people and wounded 12 shortly after they left a mosque following Friday prayers.

Jawad Basharat, the spokesman for Baghlan province's police chief, said the Friday blast occurred just outside the mosque. He said it wasn't clear who carried out the attack. Baghlan is in Afghanistan's north, which is generally less violent than the south and east.

Elsewhere, Din Mohammad Darwish, the spokesman for the governor of Logar province, said four police were killed during a battle with Taliban insurgents on Thursday.

The attacks come as the country continues to wait for the results of the presidential run-off held in June. The two candidates are trying to agree on a power-sharing deal. Final vote results have not yet been announced.
